Bull Shit!!

ABC News interviewed 4 Black women who admit to NOT HAVING A RELATIONSHIP IN OVER A DECADE becasue black black are not any good, they not on there level etc..
I refuse to believe that there are not any good black man out there to marry. Ladies stop saying this otherwise this will become your reality. In fact, the marriage rates amongst black women are up after reaching an all-time low of 46% in the mid 1990s - the Black marriage rate has GROWN STEADILY since then, and is now close to 50% for the first time since the 1970s.

Habari Gani!!!

Is the Swahili word, meaning What's the News? It is the greeting for each day of Kwanzaa.A unique African American celebration with focus on the traditional African values of family, community responsibility, commerce, and self-improvement. Kwanzaa is neither political nor religious and despite some misconceptions, is not a substitute for Christmas. It is simply a time of reaffirming African-American people, their ancestors and culture. Kwanzaa is based on the Nguzo Saba (seven guiding principles), one for each day of the observance, and is celebrated from December 26th to January 1st.

Umoja (oo-MO-jah) Unity stresses the importance of togetherness for the family and the community, which is reflected in the African saying, "I am We," or "I am because We are."

Kujichagulia (koo-gee-cha-goo-LEE-yah) Self-Determination requires that we define our common interests and make decisions that are in the best interest of our family and community.

Ujima (oo-GEE-mah) Collective Work and Responsibility reminds us of our obligation to the past, present and future, and that we have a role to play in the community, society, and world.

Ujamaa (oo-JAH-mah) Cooperative economics emphasizes our collective economic strength and encourages us to meet common needs through mutual support.

Nia
(NEE-yah) Purpose encourages us to look within ourselves and to set personal goals that are beneficial to the community.

Kuumba (koo-OOM-bah) Creativity makes use of our creative energies to build and maintain a strong and vibrant community.

Imani
(ee-MAH-nee) Faith focuses on honoring the best of our traditions, draws upon the best in ourselves, and helps us strive for a higher level of life for humankind, by affirming our self-worth and confidence in our ability to succeed and triumph in righteous struggle.

JESUS was not born on this day!!!!

It was more like spring time because of the timing & location of shepherds and their flocks in the Biblical stories about his birth. Also the three wise men were following a star in the east that was bright enough to stand out from all the rest, and this usually happens around springtime.

December 25 date was meant to accommodate one or more pagan festivals. That the Christian church picked out to help convert pagans who were accustomed to celebrating Yule or Winter Solstice or, in Roman regions in particular, the Saturnalia or Janus. This date was chosen, and remains, the traditional date for followers of many different Pagan religions to celebrate the rebirth of the sun.

Following the solstice, each succeeding day has slightly more sunlight than the previous day. It was seen as a promise that warmth would return once more to the earth. Numerous pre-Christian Pagan religions honored their gods' birth or rebirth on or about that day. Their deities were typically called: Son of Man, Light of the World, Sun of Righteousness, Bridegroom, and Savior. (Do your Research)

We celebrate on Dec. 25th because earlier Christians reverse engineered a pagan holiday and some of its traditions and mixed it with Christian traditions and called it Jesus's birthday. Note the Bible does not say December 25 is Jesus' birth date nor to celebrate it. By examining the scriptures carefully you can get an idea of what time of year he may have been born and it isn't in December.

Well, in short, nobody really knows when Jesus was born, but we know he was. So if you choose to celebrate please do not be deceived and don’t look down of those who don’t celebrate or acknowledge this day.
Peace

What do you think about Nicki Minaj

I asked this question on my facebook page "Civ Jones" and here is what my you said:

Latisha Lillian Bellamy
I cant get with the whole 'Barbie' kick and those crazy wigs..She is talented and beautiful the way she was!

Jennifer Moore
She talented but over rated. She does not have her own identity. When u look at her u think of who she reminds you of....You don't say this chick is unique...

Amber Pennington
she is ok but I still think Trina got her beat. I listened to some of her mix tape and its not all that.

Jsoul Black Sinatra
speaking from a mans perspective.... i watch her videos "with the sound down", Thats the only way it makes sense to me.

Tigga Smaller
I agree Jennifer she is a knock off of another female rapper no name needed.....cant say I care for her too much....I think I only got down wit one track she got.

Candace Smith
I love Minaj!

Clairee Jones
honestly ii lyke her! alot of ppl hatiin on her && 4what? she da only female rapper dats really puttiin shyt out riite now! ii fuqks wiit triina 2 && thiinks she's betta den niickii but whea iis she.............???

Shy LadyHeroin
I think she is talented... she can spit & sing. But she lacks in originality. She's like a bootleg Kim & Wayne combined. & she's so focused on being a Barbie her music has no substance.

Jaye Hunnie
I agree that she can spit but she 's not what I consider a serious emcee. Her voice/delivery can get annoying after awhile but I can't knock her hustle. As far as image, she's gorgeous and I think the whole Barbie thing is all in fun. Apparently it's working because she's got the Hip Hop world buzzing. All this hoopla is definitely not a result of her rhymes. lol

Tigga Smaller
well I have to say that I am not hatin on her bc she has nothing I want. Just dont really care for her. Maybe if she come out wit something new I might borrow the cd and check her out but I am not gonna run out and buy her stuff

Robert Dickerson
She is a Beast when it comes to looks....but I think she is a female artiste about her cake...I bet she is sweet I would take a piece...BLITZ LOL....

I said
Interesting comments. I think she ok for as being entertaining but as for as substance she lacks it. I remember being introduce to her music 3 years ago I thought with a little more structure and if she can find away to carve out her on lane she could be great. However I... See More’m realizing she doing what everybody else is doing being a follower and not a leader. It’s good party music though and like Tigga said I might borrow her CD

Children of the Matrix

David Icke’s presents ten years of research into the secret manipulation of the human race going back thousands for years.

Icke, the writer of ten books, including The Biggest Secret and the latest, , reveals how the same interbreeding bloodlines going back to ancient Sumer and Egypt control the positions of power to this day as royalty, US presidents, banking and business leaders.

His stunning information also exposes the subtle and less subtle methods of mass mind control, which lead the human race like sheep in the direction the controlling few desire, acceptance for a world government, world central bank and currency, a world army, and a micro-chipped population. Also included is information on humanity’s ancient extraterrestrial origins; the origins of the bloodlines that continue to control the planet. How an interdimensional race has controlled the world for thousands of years - and still does...

Who are the Children of the Matrix? WE ARE. All of us.

We are born into a world controlled by unseen forces that have plagued and manipulated humanity for thousands of years. No, this is not script from a Hollywood movie.

It is happening to you NOW.

You may look around and think that what you see is "real". But in truth you are living in an illusion - an illusion designed to keep you in a mental, emotional, and spiritual prison cell.

David Icke exposes these forces and their methods of human control and he reveals a fantastic web of global manipulation, orchestrated by forces beyond this physical realm. He exposes the hidden bloodlines, through which other-dimensional entities live and operate unseen among us; and he shows how the bloodlines of the royal, political, and economic rulers of today are the same as those who ruled as the kings and queens of ancient times.

The Choking Game:

The choking game is a dangerous activity that older children and early adolescents sometimes play to get a brief high. They either choke each other or use a noose to choke themselves. After just a short time, children can pass out, which may lead to serious injury or even death from hanging or strangulation.
Boys were much more likely to die from the choking game than girls; 87% of victims were boys. Here are some signs that can indicate a child has been involved in the choking game:

• Discussion of the game or its aliases

• Bloodshot eyes

• Marks on the neck

• Wearing high-necked shirts, even in warm weather

• Frequent, severe headaches

• Disorientation after spending time alone

• Increased and uncharacteristic irritability or hostility

• Ropes, scarves, and belts tied to bedroom furniture or doorknobs or found knotted on the floor

• The unexplained presence of dog leashes, choke collars, bungee cords, etc.

• Petechiae (pinpoint bleeding spots) under the skin of the face, especially the eyelids, or the conjunctiva (the lining of the eyelids and eyes)

What are some of the other names used for the choking game?
• Pass-out game • Space monkey• Suffocation roulette Scarf game• The American dream

• Fainting game • Something dreaming game • Purple hazing Blacking out/blackout

• Dream game• Flat liner• California choke • Space cowboy• Airplaning • Purple

WHAT TO DO IF YOUR WALLET IS STOLEN OR LOST

I lost my wallet and of course it had all my id's, ssc and whole bunch of other shit. So I went on line to find out what I should do and I ran across critical information to limit the damage in case this happens to you or someone you know.

As everyone always advises, cancel your credit cards immediately, but the key is having the toll free numbers and your card numbers handy so you know whom to call. Keep those where you can find them easily.

(I never ever thought to do this)
Call the three national credit reporting organizations immediately to place a fraud alert on your name and SS#.

The alert means any company that checks your credit knows your information was stolen and they have to contact you by phone to authorize new credit.

The numbers are:
Equifax: 1-800-525-6285
Experian (formerly TRW): 1-888-397-3742
Trans Union: 1-800-680-7289
Social Security Administration (fraud line): 1-800-269-0271

A Witch Rode My Back Last Night

Well that what my grandma use to call it. It's when your sleeping and you can't move but you can hear everything around you. It is very scary and it seems like there nothing you can do. This has been happening to me for several years now but it had stop for at least a year but then it happened last night. I was sleeping and it felt like I was awake I heard my boyfriend moving around me and I kept yelling at him to wake me up. Then finally I relaxed and I broke my self out of it. I did a Google search for "can't move while sleeping" and discovered that I actually had sleep paralysis.
Sleep paralysis is common condition characterized by either partial or total paralysis of muscles. It occurs upon awakening from sleep or falling asleep, although the latter is much less likely. The episodes generally last anywhere from seconds to minutes, and outside stimuli like touch or sound may terminate it. According to Wikipedia, sleep paralysis "it is closely related to the paralysis that occurs as a natural part of REM sleep, which is known as REM atonia. Sleep paralysis occurs when the brain awakes from a REM state, but the body paralysis persists. This leaves the person fully conscious, but unable to move. In addition, the state may be accompanied by terrifying hallucinations (hypnopompic or hypnagogic) and an acute sense of danger."
Symptoms
Sleep paralysis entails one or both of the following:

•Paralysis: occurs after waking up or just before falling asleep. You cannot move any body part, aside from involuntary movements such as blinking and breathing. "This paralysis is the same paralysis that occurs when dreaming. The brain paralyzes the muscles to prevent possible injury during dreams, as some body parts may move during dreaming. If the person wakes up suddenly, the brain may still think that it is dreaming, and sustains the paralysis." (Source: wikipedia.org)

•Hallucinations: Images or sounds that appear during the episode. The sensation that someone is standing beside you or somewhere close by in the room. Strange sounds. Some people feel a heavy weight on their chest, as if they are being sat on.
Causes
Although there are several theories, the actual cause of sleep paralysis is still unknown. However, several factors have been identified that may increase the chances of having an episode:

•Sleeping in a face upwards or supine position
•Irregular sleeping schedules; naps, sleeping in, sleep deprivation
•Increased stress

•Sudden environmental/lifestyle changes
•A lucid dream that immediately precedes the episode

Now that I know what this is, I need to figure out what triggers it. If you have ever had this to happen to you hopefully this information has given you a little more clarity.

Are we ready for Disabled Models?

Well Britian seems to think so.
There's a new BBC series called Britain's Missing Top Model, which debuts on Tuesday and will feature eight women with disabilities—ranging from missing limbs, deafness and a neuro-muscular disorder that makes it nearly impossible for one contestant to walk—all striving to become models.According to the BBC, the program is an attempt to "challenge the artificial boundaries that seem to exist in the beauty and fashion industries."

New Danger Mouse CD Released As A Blank CD-R

Due To Legal Fight With EMI from the now-that's-creative dept
If you follow copyright issues, you're no doubt aware of Danger Mouse. He's the DJ who got quite a lot of attention a few years back for creating one of the very first mainstream mashups -- mixing the Beatle's The White Album with Jay-Z's The Black Album to create the rather unique The Grey Album. Of course, one of the main reasons why the album became so well known was because EMI sent cease-and-desist letters to everyone who posted copies of the album, and then to anyone who posted that they were going to participate in the "Grey Tuesday" protest. The whole thing seemed pretty silly. It's not as if anyone listening to The Grey Album would find it a substitute for either of the other albums.

Since then, of course, DJ Danger Mouse has gone on to even more mainstream success with his Gnarls Barkley project, a collaboration between Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo Green. However, it looks like DJ Danger Mouse has another album that he's been working on, in association with Mark Linkous (of Sparklehorse). Yet, due to ongoing legal troubles with EMI, he can't actually release the music. So he's come up with a rather creative solution. Found via Andrew Dubber, the news is that the next album will be released as album artwork with a blank recordable CD.

Yes, a blank CD-R.

There is no music on it. Because if there were music on it, it would get him in more trouble with EMI. Yet, if you have that blank CD and all the artwork, you certainly could (not that they're suggesting you do...) find that music elsewhere and burn it to the CD. The statement from Danger Mouse reads:

Danger Mouse's new project Dark Night Of The Soul consists of an album length piece of music by Danger Mouse, Sparklehorse and a host of guest vocalists, along with a collection of original David Lynch photography inspired by and based on the music.

The photographs, which provide a visual narrative for the music, are compiled in a limited edition, hand numbered 100+ page book which will now come with a blank, recordable CD-R. All copies will be clearly labeled: 'For Legal Reasons, enclosed CD-R contains no music. Use it as you will.'

Due to an ongoing dispute with EMI, Danger Mouse is unable to release the recorded music for Dark Night Of The Soul without fear of being sued by EMI.

Danger Mouse remains hugely proud of Dark Night Of The Soul and hopes that people lucky enough to hear the music, by whatever means, are as excited by it as he is.
In some ways, this is reminiscent of what the band Green Day did many years ago, offering up blank CDs with artwork for fans who had downloaded the music from unauthorized sources. Yet, in this case, it's even more interesting since there are no authorized sources at all for the music. It'll be fun to see how EMI reacts. Update: Meanwhile, the folks at NPR alert us to the fact that they're hosting a streaming version of the album for anyone who wants to hear it.

Lil Kim, O.O.W.E and Brown F.I.S.H

Equals a great weekend.

Starting of with dinner with the ladies of O.O.W.E at Valentinos where I had the best damn Crab Cake ever. We were drinking our wines, laughing at good times and talking a little sh**.

Then we all headed over to Joe Square Pizza for O.O.H of Brown F.I.S.H album release. Lots of beautiful people in the building and everybody seemed to be having a good ass time. It reminded me of the old Baltimore Scene when Hip Hop shows where the place to be and if you missed them, you felt like an asshole for not going.

Then I headed out to see the Queen B “Lil Kim” whose album was one of the soundtracks to my high school career. DJ Big L was playing hits after hits and I in return resorted back to my ass shaking days. I could not help it he was killing it and so was Lil Black he did a really good job of hosting the event and then it started to go down hill.

I never understood why you would have a fashion show at the club wtf nobody going to buy that shit, get back to playing music. Then some random ass acts came out some R&B chick (can’t remember her name) but I do remember the paper being thrown at her. Angel Lola Luv and Los=Boring I kept asking myself wtf is she saying. For real that shit burns me up when folks who have know lyric talent think that this Hip Hop shit easy. Yo sit your ass down and go read a Hip Hop for Dummies book somewhere. Then Bossman was very disappointing. I kept thinking maybe he had too much to drink etc… but as my homie B-FLY said, (who is a very dope emcee and needs to bring her ass out of retirement) “This is what happens when an artist does not know how to rock with a live band step your mic game up!”

So after the almost destruction of the microphone and stage “Lil KIM the Queen B finally came out and rap her ass off killing all of my favorites: Get Money, Crush On You, Queen Bitch, Jump Off, Magic Stick, It’s All About the Benjamin’s, Lighters Up, she kept saying “What yall want to hear? You know I got hits after hits” and she did. Lil Kim is one of the best to ever do it and she deserves a lot of respect. She is a season artists that embraces and captivates you. She gave us one of the classic Hip Hop albums "Hardcore"(no matter who wrote it) that albums bumps to this day.
All hail the Queen.

Stephen Wiltshire :Autisic Artist Draws from Memory

Stephen Wiltshire was unable to speak and he was diagnosed with severe autism at the age of three. He began communicating through his drawings after being sent to Queensmill School in London, and with the support of his special-needs teachers, gradually learned to speak.

It was during those school years that they discovered Stephen's special talent, when he drew the ornate Albert Hall following a class field trip -- without the aid of a photograph. Wiltshire has the uncanny ability to draw and paint detailed landscapes and cityscapes entirely from memory.

Wiltshire can look at the subject of his drawing once and reproduce it accurately with photographic detail, down to the exact number of columns or windows on a building. He memorizes their shapes, locations and the architectural flourishes, and will do so with New York City after a brief helicopter ride.

Having tackled the iconic cities of Tokyo, Rome, Hong Kong, Frankfurt, Madrid, Dubai, Jerusalem and London, Wiltshire is more than ready to take on The Big Apple and has already begun drawing the cityscape in pen.

Roxanne Shante (nee Lolita Shante Gooden) is widely recognized as the first female hip hop artist to break through the male dominated industry. At the age of 16, she became a household name with songs including 'Roxanne's Revenge' – an "answer" record responding to U.T.F.O.'s popular 'Roxanne, Roxanne.'

She talk to Blackvoices.com her battle with breast cancer ... in her own words.

In March, I noticed a lump in my left breast, rather small at the time and didn't really know what I was feeling. So instead of going straight to the doctor's office, I started asking friends their opinion and trying to go by their experiences. It was such a stupid move. Well, I figured I was just getting older. A hysterectomy in my early thirties led me to believe that I would be fine. Another stupid move.

I was in denial. I even went so far as to ignore the letters sent by the lab that read: "Urgent!!! Please contact us."
I had gotten a call from the doctor, "I just received your images at my office and they have been trying to reach you for weeks. As soon as you get back to New York, you come to my office. This is your life."

So I felt all eyes were on me to tell women how important it is for them to get checked. It is only by the grace of God that I have been able to survive. I have been blessed to not only have survived the pitfalls of an industry that has destroyed so many, but to also survive just the everyday struggles of surviving all the negative that has come my way.

John Forte

John forte will be in Baltimore at Club Reality tonight you should come out 2625 Washington Blvd, Baltimore MD 21230
I actually had the chance to interview him today. Here is some back ground info him. John Forté is a Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and producer from Brooklyn, New York, best known for his work with the multi-platinum group “The Fugees.” On November 24, 2008, Forté was granted a commutation by President George W. Bush after having served more than seven years of a fourteen-year federal prison sentence for a first-time non-violent drug offense. I think the interview was a major fail. I felt like my co-host came off harsh towards John and did not respect his redemption. However I did manage to find out some good info for one he does not curse, or use misogynist lyrics anymore. He is a teacher at the City College of New York where he teaches a twelve-week course geared towards students aged 12-15. He uses his music as a therapeutic means to address stress, anger and pain

Thought Crimes: Could you be arrested for your thoughts???

The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed HR 1955 titled the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007. This bill is one of the most blatant attacks against the Constitution yet and actually defines thought crimes as homegrown terrorism. If passed into law, it will also establish a commission and a Center of Excellence to study and defeat so called thought criminals. Unlike previous anti-terror legislation, this bill specifically targets the civilian population of the United States and uses vague language to define homegrown terrorism. Amazingly, 404 of our elected representatives from both the Democrat and Republican parties voted in favor of this bill. There is little doubt that this bill is specifically targeting the growing patriot community that is demanding the restoration of the Constitution.

First let’s take a look at the definitions of violent radicalization and homegrown terrorism as defined in Section 899A of the bill.

The definition of violent radicalization uses vague language to define this term of promoting any belief system that the government considers to be an extremist agenda. Since the bill doesn’t specifically define what an extremist belief system is, it is entirely up to the interpretation of the government. Considering how much the government has done to destroy the Constitution they could even define Ron Paul supporters as promoting an extremist belief system. Literally, the government according to this definition can define whatever they want as an extremist belief system. Essentially they have defined violent radicalization as thought crime.

Ron Paul Questions Why Obama Daughters Haven’t Taken Swine Flu Vaccine

Prison Planet.com
Tuesday, October 27, 2009

Congressman Ron Paul has questioned why, despite his efforts to encourage the general public to get vaccinated against the H1N1 virus, President Barack Obama has refused to allow his own daughters to take the swine flu shot.
Despite the fact that Obama on Friday declared a national emergency in response to the H1N1 outbreak, he apparently doesn’t deem it enough of a threat to have his two daughters vaccinated against the virus.
Such double standards have led media pundits to call for Obama to get his daughters vaccinated on live television, in an effort to encourage American parents to do the same for their kids. The swine flu vaccination program, which was initially intended to be a “mass” inoculation covering the entire population, has been rejected by a majority of Americans who harbor deep suspicions about dangerous additives contained in the vaccine such as mercury and squalene.
In a Campaign For Liberty video message, former Presidential candidate Ron Paul labeled the vaccination program a “failure,” and slammed Obama for failing to follow the same advice he gave to the nation.
“It’s interesting to note that the President’s children have not gotten their shots and the explanation for this is it hasn’t been available to them – now that’s a little bit hard to buy when you think that probably anything the President wants can be available for their children,” said Paul, adding, “So in a way he’s made his decision not to give his children these inoculations – so if he has freedom of choice on this, I would like to make sure that all the American people have the same amount of freedom of choice.”

Influenza Vaccine Disables Washington Redskins cheerleader

She's a beautiful young woman and former Washington Redskins cheerleader whose heartbreaking story is shocking the nation. 26-year-old Desiree Jennings showed INSIDE EDITION reporter Les Trent how she can't walk without twisty, jerky movements... although she can walk backwards perfectly normally. Doctors say she has a rare, one-in-a-million neurological disorder that was triggered 10 days after she got a seasonal flu shot. She said she could not eat without passing out. INSIDE EDITION visited Desiree and her husband Brendan at their home in Ashburn, Virginia to see what their daily life is like. Desiree has to go up and down stairs backwards because something as simple as walking forward can be dangerous. Here's what makes her disorder even more bizarre. She runs with a normal stride and while running she can even speak normally. But when she finally stops, the spasms start. Desiree got a flu shot on August 23. Ten days later she came down with what doctors have diagnosed as dystonia, a rare neurological disorder. Her jerking and twisting are the result of uncontrollable muscle contractions. There is no known cure.

Doctors say what happened to Desiree shouldn't discourage people from getting flu shots. But the woman who's on the wrong side of being "one-in-a-million" says, "[Running] is the only thing I have left."

Human are Evolving

For years we have been told that the 3rd strand of our DNA is junk or useless because biologists could not determine it function. However there have increasing evidence indicating that this DNA is not "junk" at all. Some even believe that this is our spiritual DNA. Once all the strands of the spiritual DNA are reconnected and reactivated, you are reprogrammed for full spiritual evolution. Making you more connected to God and living as a spiritual being. Fore more info look up DNA Activation. It will blow your minds.

September 9, 2009

There will be a confrontation between good and evil, in a very definite way, and there will be nothing vague about it. This can occur on a personal or worldwide level. But since there are both beginnings and endings represented in this date, this event will mark the end of one era and the beginning of a new chapter -- in other words, those negative 2s will act as a combined catalyst for change ... and healing. beginning and end will bring us greater awareness on individual levels. We'll have to re-examine the realities of the choices we've each made, and the consequences for choices on a personal, national and international level as well. This may be because this day might shake our sense of security.
But in this sense of shake-up, we'll experience a moment where we truly feel part of a global community: all the differences we recognize between countries, cultures, races and religions will be momentarily forgotten as we see a baseline of similarity between all people. This is the positive charge of September 9, 2009: a positive volt felt 'round the world!
Because 2 is a number of connection -- and because for the next millennium, it will figure heavily in both birthdates (effecting individuals) and in general dates (effecting the worldwide community), our next few centuries will be defined by a sense of brotherhood and peace on a global scale.
Consider the last millennium. The number 1 had a lot of bearing, and 1 is a hard, driven and uncompromising number. In the last thousand years, humankind really pushed for individualism, freedom (often without compromise), confrontation and independence. By contrast, a millennium marked by 2 will emphasize diplomacy, sensitivity and healing.
The changes will be gradual, but luckily, we'll all be alive to see them take shape! Be wary and savvy on September 9, 2009 -- and reap the benefits of a sudden shift!

African Booty Scratcher:by Nikyatu Jusu

Filmmaker Nikyatu Jusu was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Sierra Leonean immigrant parents. Her passion for film led her to pursue an M.F.A. in the competitive film program at New York University, where she is currently studying.

Nikyatu recently released her first short film African Booty Scratcher (which Nikyatu wrote and directed), a coming of age story where West African tradition conflicts with American idealism and the protagonist Isatu is forced to reassess her alliances. Black Beauty Fridays: Naomi Sims "The first Black Super Model"

Naomi Sims, whose appearance as the first black model on the cover of Ladies’ Home Journal in November 1968 was a consummate moment of the Black is Beautiful movement, and who went on to design successful collections of wigs and cosmetics for black women under her name, died Saturday in Newark. She was 61 and lived in Newark.
She died of cancer, said her son, Bob Findlay.
Ms. Sims is sometimes referred to as the first black supermodel.
“Naomi was the first,” the designer Halston told The New York Times in 1974. “She was the great ambassador for all black people. She broke down all the social barriers.”
Ms. Sims often said childhood insecurities and a painful upbringing — living in foster homes, towering over her classmates and living in a largely poor white neighborhood in Pittsburgh — had inspired her to strive to become “somebody really important” at a time when cultural perceptions of black Americans were being challenged by the civil rights movement and a renewed stress on racial pride

After five years, she gave up modeling and started a wig-making business with styles designed for black women. It eventually expanded into a multimillion-dollar beauty empire and at least five books on modeling and beauty.
“There is nothing sadder than an old, broke model, and there are many models who have nothing at the end of their career,” Ms. Sims told The Times in 1969.
In the 1980s, she expanded the Naomi Sims Collection to include a prestige fragrance, beauty salons and cosmetics, but by the end of the decade she had become less involved with its daily operations. Many images of Ms. Sims from that period are still used to promote the products that bear her name.
Ms. Sims often attributed her success to using her race as an advantage.
“It’s ‘in’ to use me,” she said early on, “and maybe some people do it when they don’t really like me. But even if they are prejudiced, they have to be tactful if they want a good picture.”

R.I.P Naomi Sims may you have a smooth transition over to the spiritual plane.

Hip Hop Chaser: The Master Competition

Lately I been going to different events around Baltimore City, Sunday I went to the Master Competition. The Master Competition is a intense MC Battle that test the different skills using on the spot challenges/harsh judge feedback/obstacles etc. Must Impress primarily a large group of MCs. Writers/Lyricist (other than MCs) and media/DJs. Created by The Baltimore Scene the winner of the battle takes home $1000. I judge last year where the winner was A-Class. This year was a little different where each round had a winner and they went home with $100. It was a close competition with Kane and Troy being the last MC left. However Troy also know as God Flow brought out some super human rhymes and won that battle and crown as being the Master MC of 2009. Very good look for the Hip Hop scene here in Maryland. Check out The Baltimore scene website for a in depth review of the competition and to find out about upcoming shows http://www.myspace.com/baltimorescene

Mental Ramblings

There is magic happening in my atmosphere. I feel like I'm transitioning to a higher plain. For the last couple of weeks I have woken up with this presence of God being all over me. The dreams I'm having, the prayers that are going up and he scripture that I'm reading has made me realize that my spirit needed to be fed. For I AM a spiritual being and the I AM is in me.

Population Control!! There trying to kill us

Deerfield, Illinois-based pharmaceutical company Baxter International Inc. has just been caught shipping live avian flu viruses mixed with vaccine material to medical distributors in 18 countries. The "mistake" (if you can call it that, see below...) was discovered by the National Microbiology Laboratory in Canada. The World Health Organization was alerted and panic spread throughout the vaccine community as health experts asked the obvious question: How could this have happened?

As published on LifeGen.de (http://www.lifegen.de/newsip/showne...), serious questions like this are being raised:

"Baxter International Inc. in Austria 'unintentionally contaminated samples with the bird flu virus that were used in laboratories in 3 neighbouring countries, raising concern about the potential spread of the deadly disease'. Austria, Germany, Slowenia and the Czech Republic - these are the countries in which labs were hit with dangerous viruses. Not by bioterrorist commandos, but by Baxter. In other words: One of the major global pharmaceutical players seems to have lost control over a virus which is considered by many virologists to be one of the components leading some day to a new pandemic."

Or, put another way, Baxter is acting a whole lot like a biological terrorism organization these days, sending deadly viral samples around the world. If you mail an envelope full of anthrax to your Senator, you get arrested as a terrorist. So why is Baxter -- which mailed samples of a far more deadly viral strain to labs around the world -- getting away with saying, essentially, "Oops?"

But there's a bigger question in all this: How could this company have accidentally mixed LIVE avian flu viruses (both H5N1 and H3N2, the human form) in this vaccine material?

Was the viral contamination intentional?

Health is on my mind

African Americans have more disease, disability, and early death than any other racial group. The leading causes of death for African American are heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, and sexually transmitted disease.

The most troubling part of this is that many of these health conditions can be prevented and cure with a change in our life style. All that fried food, chitins, soul food, candy, sweet cakes, half and half, chicken box, and our laziness is killing us.

According to Michigan state university a healthy life style is defined by four basic criteria: Don’t smoke, Watch your weight, Eat right and Exercise.
Educate your self on your health, diseases, Alternative Medicine, and what it takes to live a healthy life.

Below are some Healthy Lifestyle Checklist Tips:
• Maintain recommended body weight
• Eat a plant-based diet with moderate portions
• Engage in regular physical activity
• Don't smoke or use drugs
• Use alcohol in moderation
• Take steps to master your stress
• Nurture healthy relationships
• Find meaning and purpose in life

So what I want to know is what are some of the things that you do to keep your health in check?

Make sure you tune in tomorrow on Baltimore 1010 WOLB Am as the "Shero's" will discuss this topic. Wednesday 7-22-09 at 9am

Barack Obama tells Africa to stop blaming colonialism for problems

The Telegraph ^ | 7/9/2009 | Alex Spillius

Posted on Wednesday, July 08, 2009 11:41:48 PM by bruinbirdman

Ahead of a visit to Ghana at the weekend, he said: "Ultimately, I'm a big believer that Africans are responsible for Africa.

"I think part of what's hampered advancement in Africa is that for many years we've made excuses about corruption or poor governance, that this was somehow the consequence of neo-colonialism, or the West has been oppressive, or racism – I'm not a big – I'm not a believer in excuses.
Mr Obama, the son of a Kenyan, added: "I'd say I'm probably as knowledgeable about African history as anybody who's occupied my office. And I can give you chapter and verse on why the colonial maps that were drawn helped to spur on conflict, and the terms of trade that were uneven emerging out of colonialism.

"And yet the fact is we're in 2009," continued the US president. "The West and the United States has not been responsible for what's happened to Zimbabwe's economy over the last 15 or 20 years.

"It hasn't been responsible for some of the disastrous policies that we've seen elsewhere in Africa. And I think that it's very important for African leadership to take responsibility and be held accountable."

Mr Obama told AllAfrica.com that he chose Ghana for his first trip to the continent as president to highlight the country's development as a democracy.

Providing glimpses of a speech to be delivered in Accra on Saturday, he explained: "Ghana has now undergone a couple of successful elections in which power was transferred peacefully, even a very close election."

Mr Obama made it clear that Kenya's ongoing instability had ruled out his father's homeland as an initial destination, despite the euphoria it would have produce

Do you agree?

Victoria’s Secret Bras Causing Skin Rashes?

In a new class action lawsuit, dozens of women are claiming that Victoria’s Secret bras have given them painful, unsightly rashes. One of the plaintiffs, Roberta Ritter of Ohio, says the company’s “Angels Secret Embrace” and “Very Sexy Extreme Me Push-Up” bras gave her persistent itchy rashes that caused severe discomfort. When Ritter’s lawyers purchased the same bra types and sent them to a lab, she claims, they tested positive for formaldehyde.

Formaldehyde is considered a probable human carcinogen by the EPA and is also a known allergen. Though people often associate the chemical with embalmed specimens in jars, it is actually found in many everyday products.

“Formaldehyde is the big thing these days,” says dermatologist Susan Tillman Elliott, consulting physician to the Center for Laser Surgery in Washington D.C. “It’s been known for a zillion years that it’s the major component of most fabric finishers. It’s a major contact allergen.” Formaldehyde is often used in fabrics for permanent press, anti-cling, anti-static, anti-wrinkle, and waterproof finishes. It’s also found in cosmetics, medications, household cleaners, paints, and cigarette smoke.

Rashes caused by formaldehyde in clothing usually occur in high friction areas like the inner thighs (“trouser dermatitis”) and could very likely appear underneath the tight underwire of bras. Formaldehyde allergies can be confirmed by a patch test. Elliott says the chemical is usually removed from clothing after a few washings

Victoria’s Secret has stated that they do not use formaldehyde in their bras. Some countries have banned the use of formaldehyde in textiles, but it is still legal in the U.S.

Granted, there are other ways bras could cause a rash, from underwire irritation to a condition known as Rubber Accelerator Bleach Syndrome, suggests Elliot. Rubber accelerators are chemicals used in the manufacturing of rubber, and many people, such as surgeons and nurses who wear rubber gloves, can develop an allergy from frequent exposure. Washing the rubber products only makes the reaction worse: “If you wash rubber-containing things with any kind of bleach, you change the component of the rubber,” says Elliott. “Folks can use the underwear fine at first, and then they wash it and the chemical change happens.”

Despite the complaints and threatened legal action, Victoria’s Secret is still keeping the bras on its shelves. Maybe they’ll finally start paying attention after Heidi Klum gets a rash—or maybe they’ll just airbrush it out.

Get familiar With Black Talk Radio: Cathy Hughes

I've been working for Radio One since 2002 and met Ms. Hughes on several occasion. Every time I meet her I feel like I'm in the presence of great wisdom. She is persistence and determine in the causes she believes in. She is so down to earth and tells it how it is. Her latest fight is against HR 848 in which The international record labels are asking Congress for a handout (H.R. 848) and they want to take it from your local radio stations.
That may mean YOUR favorite station will have to cut back on the music they play or the community services they provide. Now i know most people don't listen to radio, however these stations will not be effected as much as the Gospel stations, and talk radio. In which Most of these stations are own by black people.

Cathy Hughes is the founder and chairperson of Radio One, Inc., the largest African-American owned and operated broadcast-company in the nation. Radio One is the first African-American company in radio history to dominate several major markets simultaneously. Also, for the first time in the history of radio, a #1 ranked major market station is owned by a woman. In 1995, Radio One purchased WKYS in Washington, D.C. for $40 million -- the largest transaction between two Black companies in broadcasting history. Her newest venture is TV One, Inc., launched on January 19, 2004, in partnership with Comcast, the nation’s largest pay-television provider. TV One caters to the adult lifestyles of African Americans offering quality programming such as “B. Smith with Style,” and an array of original programming. Hughes is on the board of TV One, is the Executive Producer of “The Gospel of Music with Jeff Majors,” and also hosts TV One’s interview show, “TV One on One.”

What would you ask?

Over the weekend I went to a get together called the "Speak Out". Basically it's was a discussion on different topics from politics, entertainment, men and women issues etc... There were about 15 guys a 4 ladies in attendance. So it was very interesting to hear what the brothers had to say. Below are some of the questions and some answers that I remembered from the session.
Should homosexual have the right to adopt?
Most children in the adoption system have been molested. When the lights go out the molested become the molesters.
Can men and women who are fond of each other be platonic friends?
One of the answers to that question "Men who have sex with you are not your friends".
Why do Africans, Caribbeans and other foreign blacks look down on African Americans? Because we feel that AA do not take advantage of the resources they have in America.
Of course why do Black men date women outside of there races? Because they treat us better, they don't have the attitude and they wake us up with a kiss instead of I need money for this, the bills, the kids you ain't.
There where so many questions and a lot of good answers. Next time I promise to record and share with you. If you a had a chance to attend this function what would you ask and how will you answer?

Happy Fathers Day!!!

Letter from the Prez
AOL News June 19) -- On his first Father's Day in the White House, President Obama makes a public confession to his daughters.
"I know I have been an imperfect father. I know I have made mistakes," he writes in Sunday's Parade magazine.
The president's essay is part personal reflection and part policy statement.
"In many ways, I came to understand the importance of fatherhood through its absence," says Obama, who was 2 when his father left. "I came to understand that the hole a man leaves when he abandons his responsibility to his children is one that no government can fill."
The president often mentions how much he enjoys his family's closeness now that they're living "above the office." He sees Malia, 10, and Sasha, 8, every day before school and every night at dinner. But he paid a price to get a job with such perks.
"I have lost count of all the times, over the years, when the demands of work have taken me from the duties of fatherhood. There were many days out on the campaign trail when I felt like my family was a million miles away," he admits in the essay.
He regrets missing precious moments in the lives of his girls, calling it a loss he "will never fully accept."

Juneteenth

Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. Note that this was two and a half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation - which had become official January 1, 1863. The Emancipation Proclamation had little impact on the Texans due to the minimal number of Union troops to enforce the new Executive order. However, with the surrender of General Lee in April of 1865, and the arrival of General Granger’s regiment, the forces were finally strong enough to influence and overcome the resistance.

Juneteenth is a day of reflection, a day of renewal, a pride-filled day. It is a moment in time taken to appreciate the African American experience. It is inclusive of all races, ethnicities and nationalities - as nothing is more comforting than the hand of a friend.

Juneteenth is a day on which honor and respect is paid for the sufferings of slavery. It is a day on which we acknowledge the evils of slavery and its aftermath. On Juneteenth we talk about our history and realize because of it, there will forever be a bond between us.

On Juneteenth we think about that moment in time when the enslaved in Galveston, Texas received word of their freedom. We imagine the depth of their emotions, their jubilant dance and their fear of the unknown.

Juneteenth is a day that we commit to each other the needed support as family, friends and co-workers. It is a day we build coalitions that enhance African American economics.

On Juneteenth we come together young and old to listen, to learn and to refresh the drive to achieve. It is a day where we all take one step closer together - to better utilize the energy wasted on racism. Juneteenth is a day that we pray for peace and liberty for all.

Nigerian Hood Movies aka Nollywood

While I was in Binta African Hair Salon getting every piece of my scalp braided up, I got the pleasure to watch "My Baby Boy" a Nigerian hood movie. Coming straight from Nollywood more on that later. Now "My Baby Boy" was very entertaining. I consisted of 3 story lines in one. A little much but very interesting to say the least. One story line was about this man whore who has all these women and two of his women happen to be roommates and he gets caught. Another was about these two twins females one is a straight whore and sleeps with her sister man and he ask like he does not know. Lastly was about a father and daughter who have been sleeping with each other for the past 11 years. The fathers starts cheating, the daughters gets upset and is out for blood. My system was in overload from all of the foolywaginish that was going on. I would like to see these films go into a little more depth instead of your average Jerry Springer episode. Nerveless I have to give props where it's do and Nollywood definitely gets 4 Bobby Brown Humps.

About Nollywood it emerged in the 1990s. It stems from the traveling theater a vibrant tradition of plays that are performed from village to village. The plays began to be put on VHS tape and now Nollywood is the 3rd largest film industry

Hero or Murderer

Here is the Scenario:
OKLAHOMA CITY – Confronted by two holdup men, pharmacist Jerome Ersland pulled a gun, shot one of them in the head and chased the other away. Then, in a scene recorded by the drugstore's security camera, he went behind the counter, got another gun, and pumped five more bullets into the wounded teenager as he lay on the floor.

Now Ersland has been charged with first-degree murder in a case that has stirred a furious debate over vigilante justice and self-defense and turned the pharmacist into something of a folk hero.

When I heard about this I thought that the pharmacist did what he he had too. However after watching this video has changed my mind completely. This guy was definitely in the wrong. What do you think?

Sentenced!!! 12 Years of hard labor

June 8 (Bloomberg) -- North Korea sentenced U.S. journalists Euna Lee and Laura Ling to 12 years of labor for charges including illegally entering the country, stoking tension with the Obama administration after detonating a nuclear device last month.

The two women were sentenced after a June 4-8 trial in which they were found guilty of the “crime they committed against the Korean nation,” the state-run Korean Central News Agency said.

The sentencing may enflame tensions that are already running high after North Korea detonated a nuclear device last month, said the 1953 armistice ending the Korean War no longer applies and fired several missiles. South Korea has deployed a combat ship to its maritime border with the North and vowed last week to send F-15K fighter jets in the event of a clash.

Lee and Ling were detained along the China border March 17 while reporting for San Francisco-based Current TV, co-founded by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said “the charges against these young women are absolutely without merit or foundation,” in an interview with ABC television’s “This Week.”

Wow!!! Please pray for there immediate release.

Taurus

Since comfort is your main ingredient for happiness, you should know that it’s just around the corner, bigger and better than you’re imagining right now. But like everything else, the darkest hour comes right before the dawn. The week ahead requires you to move through a series of very uncomfortable situations to get you through those powerfully disruptive forces that have wreaked havoc with the first half of your year. Your ruler travels through her least favorite sign for one more week, while the soothing connections you’ve been relying on for support are occupied elsewhere for the moment. You’ll do best to keep your sites riveted to the door you can already see opening up ahead. The Full Moon on Sunday stabilizes a brand new chapter and your ruler moves into your own sign, bringing strength and peaceful solidarity into your world at last.

So I bought this $5.00 gallon of Organic Milk and after I got done eating I threw the whole thing up and my stomach was on hurt mold. I'm thinking it just me then my boyfriend ate a bowel and he threw it up. So I called Superdefstar (read her blog yo) told her what happen and she like damn. Yeah damn that shit cost $5.00. So after I did a little research on this organic craze, I decided that since I'm going to eat meat I'll buy that organically can't being eating chicken that filled with a whole bunch of hormones (that's why these 12 and 13 year old girls are walking around with double d's) later on that. Also my fruits and vegetables got to stay away from the pesticides.
